Our Purpose
Managing academic performance across multiple semesters under VIT's Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) often leads students to rely on cumbersome manual spreadsheets, outdated calculators, or inaccurate third-party tools that simply average semester GPAs.
Our goal is to provide a clean, high-precision, distraction-free utility that faithfully implements the official academic formulas defined in VIT regulations, giving students clear insight into their academic trajectory before official semester grade cards are published on VTOP.
Architectural Methodology
Unlike typical client-side web calculators that perform rounding inside JavaScript and risk precision errors, our platform follows an authoritative server-side architecture:
- Authoritative PHP Engine: All course data is verified and computed server-side in PHP using high-precision arithmetic.
- Official Source Adherence: Every formula—from course-level weighted CGPA summation to the Controller of Examinations CGPA × 10 circular—is derived strictly from official university publications.
- Fail Grade Precision: The calculator correctly reflects the regulatory rule that an 'F' grade carries 0 grade points while its credits remain in the denominator.
- Zero Data Storage: No personal credentials, VTOP usernames, registration details, or course marks are saved. Calculations occur in volatile memory and are purged immediately.
Independent Educational Status
vitcgpacalculator.dev is an independent educational tool developed for the student community. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or in any way officially connected with Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates.
Limitations & Advisory
While our calculations model standard VIT FFCS grading regulations, special academic scenarios—such as course substitutions, audit courses (U), pass/fail non-graded subjects (P), withdrawal (W), or transfer credits—require administrative handling as per the specific regulations governing your batch. Always verify official standing with your faculty advisor and official transcripts.
